Glaucoma

Glaucoma is an eye disease where fluid build-up in the eye elevates the intraocular pressure causing damage to the optic nerve.

Macular Degeneration

Age Related Macular Degeneration or AMD is an eye disease that blurs the sharp central vision you need for activities such as reading, computer, sewing and driving.
  • There are 2 types of AMD, wet and dry
  • Dry AMD in it's early stages can be detected by an eye examination; Your Doctor can make treatment recommendations.
  • Wed AMD can progress much more rapidly than dry and may require urgent medical intervention to preserve vision.

Diabetes in the Eye

What Is Diabetes?
Diabetes is a disease that affects the body’s ability to produce or use insulin effectively to control blood sugar (glucose) levels. Too much glucose in the blood for a long time can cause damage in many parts of the body. Diabetes can damage the heart, kidneys and blood vessels. It damages small blood vessels in the eye as well. Even if diabetes is well controlled, it can affect your regular eye care.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that about 90% of vision loss from diabetes can be prevented. Early detection is key. People with diabetes should get critical, annual eye exams even before they have signs of vision loss. Studies show that 60% of diabetics are not getting the exams their doctors recommend.

Dry Eyes

Our eyes need tears to stay healthy and comfortable. If you have dry eyes your body may not be producing enough, or the right type of tears.
  • Dry eyes can be diagnosed by tear function testing and symptom assessment.
  • Common symptoms are dry, aching eyes feeling "gritty" and appearing red.
  • There are multiple treatment options for dry eye patients, Talk with your doctor.

 Intraocular Lens Implants

Lens implants come in a variety of options.
  • Single focus implants always require glasses to change focus.
  • Multifocal and extended range of focus implants are exciting options and lessen the need for glasses.**
  • Toric lenses and surgical procedures are available to correct astigmatism.**
